Incidence of extensive chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) at last follow up, is lower in patients receiving rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) in the conditioning regimen: this is true for both the Italian (GITMO) trial and the German more recent trial. Reduction is almost exactly of the same order, despite difference in transplant era, patient numbers, donor selection, and ATG source (the GITMO trial was conducted with Thymoglobulin and the German trial with ATG-F).
